Bruce Ferree, CFS Senior Food Scientist, Insight Food Safety Consulting

Having received a B.Sc. from Colorado State University, Bruce Ferree embarked on a career in product quality and food safety management.  He has worked in further processed meats and poultry, cheese making, milk processing (ESL and aseptic), aseptic processing and packaging and sugar extraction operations.  In addition, Bruce spent 4 years working as a consultant, trainer and auditor helping numerous others in manufacturing, QSR’s and laboratories to understand food safety and quality management.  Bruce retired in early 2018 after 35 years managing quality and food safety programs and is now owner of Insight Food Safety Consulting.  In addition to IFT, Bruce is a member of IAFP and a senior member of ASQ.

Bruce has been an active and enthusiastic contributor to IFT since his college days serving as leader of the local student food tech club.  Since then, his IFT service includes Sections and Divisions, and on IFT committees.  He has served on the Constitution and By-Laws Committee, the Higher Education Review Board, the 2011 Curriculum Review Task Force.  He is currently finishing his term as a Trustee for Feeding Tomorrow, The Foundation for IFT; and is the current Chair of the Quality Assurance Division.  He is an IFT Fellow and recipient of the IFT Calvert Willey Distinguished Service Award.  He is a published author and has served as a member of the editorial advisory board for QA and Food Safety Magazine since 2011.  He enjoys the IFT activities that involve students and our next generation most, serving as a Fun Run ambassador and organizer as well as a College Bowl Moderator and Judge.
