Colin DennisColin Dennis has recently retired from being Director-General of Campden BRI formerly Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association Group headquartered in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, and has sites at Nutfield and Stoneleigh Park in the UK and Budapest, Hungary. Prior to moving to Chipping Campden in 1981, he worked for 11 years at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich, including a period on secondment at the Norwegian Food Research Institute near Oslo. During his 21 years as Director-General the business grew from c.£2.5m in 1988 to over £18.25m in 2008 with over 2000 clients in over 60 countries and now employs 385 staff. Upon retirement he was appointed Honorary Member of Campden BRI. He is a Governor and Visiting Professor at the Royal Agricultural College, UK, a Board Member of the National Skills Academy, the Countryside and Community Research Institute and serves on several Government and Industry Advisory Committees in the UK and overseas and has recently been appointed to Maple Leaf's Food Safety Council in Toronto.

Colin has extensive volunteer experience in food science and technology in the UK and USA. Within IFT this has been at Section and National level including leadership positions as Chair of the UK Section and National IFT Committees/Advisory Panels.
Colin's leadership in Food Science and Technology has been recognised internationally by his election in 2001 as a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists in the USA and as a Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology. He has just completed a 2 year term as Chair of the Scientific Council of the IUFoST during which he played a lead part in organising the 14th World Food Congress in Shanghai, China.

In the New Year Honours for 2009 he was appointed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth for services to the agri-food industry.
