Kelsey Ryan - Past President, IFTSA

Kelsey RyanKelsey originates from North Mankato, MN and attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities where she pursued an undergraduate degree in Food Science. During her undergraduate study Kelsey worked in the University of Minnesota Sensory Center and in the laboratory of Dr. Theodore Labuza while being an active member and leader in the Food Science and Nutrition Club. Kelsey also participated in the Cornell Food Science Summer Scholars Program in 2004, interned with General Mills in product development in 2005 and interned with Heinz North America in 2006, also in product development. Kelsey graduated with her B.S. in Food Science with a minor in nutrition in 2006 and began her M.S. work under Dr. Kirby Hayes at Purdue University in the fall of 2006. At Purdue she researched the plasmin enzyme system in milk and received her M.S. in the spring of 2008. In the fall of 2008, Kelsey started her Ph.D. work under Dr. Allen Foegeding at North Carolina State University in the area of dairy protein chemistry. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys being active by walking, jogging, hiking, and biking whenever she can. In addition to being outdoors and exercising, Kelsey takes pleasure in baking, especially bread baking, and travelling.
