Sarah Kirkmeyer

Sarah is currently serving as the Director of Consumer Sensory Insights North America at Givaudan Flavors Corp.  She is a member of the Marketing Leadership team providing industry leading insights integrating market, consumer and sensory research to deliver for Givaudan’s business and customer initiatives. She is responsible for driving research strategies and outcomes that align with objectives through active engagement with cross functional customer and Givaudan teams.  She is responsible for efficiently managing primary research budgets and a diverse team of professionals across beverage and food categories.  Dr. Kirkmeyer has previously worked for L’Oréal USA, where she managed the sensory & consumer research team responsible for new product development of global cosmetics, skincare and fragrances and liaised with domestic and global colleagues for enhanced collaboration.  She also held positions at International Flavors and Fragrances and Brown-Forman Beverages. 

Dr. Kirkmeyer has 20 years of experience in the food science industry. She has been an active professional member of IFT for the past 11 years serving with enthusiasm for volunteer engagement, student involvement, professional recognition and delivery of exceptional content especially among the Sensory and Consumer Sciences Division.

Sarah holds a Ph.D. in Food Chemistry with focus in Sensory from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ where she culminated research on “Creaminess in Dairy Products: Associations with Sensory Perception, Consumer Acceptance and Genetic Sensitivity to 6-n-Proplythiouracil (PROP)”.  She also received a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Miami University, Oxford, OH.  She earned an M.S. and B.S. in Food Science/Foods and Nutrition from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.

Sarah is passionate about lifelong learning especially among consumer trends and applied research approaches.  When not at work she enjoys travel, interior design, spinning and family time.
