Yanyun Zhao, PhD, CFS

Background

Dr. Yanyun Zhao is a professor in the Department of Food Science & Technology at Oregon State University (OSU), leading an integrated research/Extension/teaching program in Sustainable Food Packaging and Processing. Dr. Zhao is an internationally prominent researcher in developing new knowledge and applications for edible food packaging and value-added utilization of fiber-rich food processing byproducts. Dr. Zhao is the recipient of numerous awards, has generated more than 170 peer-reviewed journal publications, 21 book chapters, and 8 granted patents, edited 2 books, and provided more than 50 workshops/short courses to the food industry. 

IFT Highlights

Yanyun has been actively engaged in numerous IFT activities and served in many elected and volunteer positions as chair of IFT committee and division, award juries, and organizer and speaker at IFT symposia, short courses, and webinars. She is a recipient of the 2020 IFT Research and Development award, an elected 2012 IFT Fellow, and a Certified Food Scientist.
