James Matthews, CFS
Jim Matthews is a food industry executive specializing in R&D, Quality Assurance and New Business Development. Jim joined Weight Watchers Food Company in 1980, from Chesebrough Ponds. In 1991, became director Technical Services for Ore-Ida foods, and in 1996, VP R&D/QA.
In 2000, Jim was promoted VP R&D/QA for the HJ Heinz Co. and in 2011 to Group Vice President of Global R&D/Innovation.
Jim also led the Heinz Global R&D Council for innovation transfer. He has led teams that have created over 500 successful new products and line extensions, and championed the creation of the Heinz Innovation and Quality Center, a state of the art technical facility providing the tools and talent to innovate in product, packaging, convenience and nutrition.
Jim has a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Medical Technology from SUNY Geneseo and a Masters of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has chaired various industry organizations including American Frozen Foods Institute, and is a member the Cornell University Food Science Industry Advisory Board.
Jim is currently the Vice President of Quality Assurance at Green Mountain Coffee.
