Program Description

The College of Food Science and Technology (CFST) was founded in 1993. Its predecessor was the Department of Fishery Processing established in 1912, which in 1986 was renamed the Department of Food Science & Technology (DFST). The college has now become an important academic center in East China with its integrated efforts in education and training coupled with a strong scientific research program. The CFST offers programs leading to the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. At present the College has four departments offering one doctoral program, four masters programs, and seven undergraduate programs. Food Science and Engineering, a 1st level discipline is ranked 2ndat the Ph.D. level and 6th at the master’s level.

With the advantage of a high level of academics, advanced equipment, abundant and qualified faculty, as well as valuable scientific research results, the College of Food Science and Technology is destined to continue to play a leading role in developing outstanding academic programs and excellent scientific research, commensurate with it being a top level academic institution.
