Education Advisory Panel

In March 2012, the IFT Board of Directors discussed the need to reposition and enhance education-focused programming at the Annual Meeting & Food Expo through a new Education Advisory Panel.

Through this panel, the Board recommended gaining insights from a variety of IFT members to design a comprehensive approach to education programming that supports our academic community. A primary goal for the panel was to generate new ways to strengthen continuing education and presentation opportunities for IFT academic members and others who are interested in excellence in teaching, research and extension/outreach. Specifically, the Advisory Panel was charged with providing input into what new programming is needed to better meet the education needs of academicians attending the IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo.

After surveying more than 6,000 members, the Advisory Panel submitted a final report which was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors on November 9, 2012. The Education Advisory Panel will remain in place through the 2013 IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo and help assess what is referred to as the Teaching & Learning SPA (Science Practice Application) Program. A new workgroup is currently being appointed to implement this program. Members will be posted here as they are confirmed.
