IACM recognizes Borzelleca with Lifetime Service Award

September 26, 2012

The International Association of Color Manufacturers (IACM) has recognized Joseph F. Borzelleca with its inaugural Lifetime Service Award during its Global Color Conference, held Sept. 11–13, 2012, in Chicago, Ill. In the 1970s and 1980s, Borzelleca designed lifetime toxicity/carcinogenicity studies sponsored by IACM’s predecessor organization, the Certified Color Manufacturers Association, which remain the standard of excellence for food color safety assessment more than three decades later. Borzelleca is a member of the Institute of Food Technologists.

“We celebrate him for his exemplary leadership in working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to establish the gold standard for the safety assessment of certified food color additives. Most certified food colors used in the United States today are available because of his efforts,” said John Cox, IACM’s General Counsel.
