FDA delays menu labeling enforcement

March 10, 2016

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will delay its enforcement of menu labeling, according to a statement from Susan Mayne, director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. The FDA is delaying enforcement from Dec. 1, 2016, to the date that is one year after it issues final, Level 1 guidance on menu labeling. Draft Level 1 guidance was issued on Sept. 11, 2015, and the FDA is currently considering all comments received. According to Mayne, it will issue the final guidance as soon as possible.
