Lesson 7 Careers

According to the TQM philosophy, everyone has customers. Therefore, each job has a customer service component. There are a number of professional careers dealing directly with quality customer satisfaction. They include quality control supervisors and managers, TQM team leaders and members, quality facilitators and trainers, customer satisfaction researchers, human resource managers, directors of quality, etc.

To work in the area of quality and customer satisfaction, you must possess good interactive, facilitative and teamwork skills as well as a sound statistical and analytical background. More and more colleges and universities are integrating TQM elements in their professional education programs. Business, engineering and food science schools are starting to emphasize, usually on an elective basis, the need for continuous quality improvement subject matters. Some universities have TQM as specialty area of concentration.
