(1) $3,000  Inaugural Edlong Dairy Flavors Scholarship -- NEW
Edlong Dairy Flavors, a leading company specializing in concentrated dairy flavors, is offering a $3,000 scholarship to a graduate or undergraduate student. The student must be enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. food science program with a focus in dairy science and /or dairy flavors or pursuing an undergraduate degree in food science with a focus in dairy flavors at an IFT approved university. (1) $1,000 Inaugural Food Engineering Division Scholarship -- NEW
Sponsored by the Food Engineering Division, this scholarship is available to an undergraduate student who will pursue a research project focusing on some aspect of food engineering. The research will occur during the academic year or summer. The student will work with a faculty member who is part of the Food Engineering Division. Requirements:  

  • A recommendation letter from a research advisor stating that the faculty member will supervise the student to do research in their lab.
  • Briefly outline the goal(s) of the project. 
  • The student must submit a 2-page research statement on the relevance, approach, and expected outcome of their research project.  The student is encouraged to submit their research for presentation at the 2012 IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo. If this is not possible, the student should submit a 5 page report to the current chair of the Food Engineering Division.

(1) $1,000 Evan Turek Memorial Scholarship/Kraft Foods Internship
Kraft Foods is sponsoring one paid summer internship for 2012 and a $1,000 scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year. The scholarship and internship are available to a sophomore, junior, or senior  pursuing a Bachelor's degree in food science with a focus in chemistry, dairy science, agricultural/food engineering, food packaging, and non-thermal processing.

(1) $1,000 Dr. C. Ann Hollingsworth Student Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of Ann, a past IFT President who was an advocate for food science students. The recipient of this scholarship must demonstrate outstanding leadership for the IFT Student Association along with a passion for IFT and the food science profession. (2) $500 IFT Extension Division
Student must be, or apply to become, a member of the IFT Extension Division at the time of the application. Student must submit a statement of interest in Extension/Outreach education which includes a description of career objectives and professional goals.

(1) $1,000 IFT Past Presidents
This scholarship honors the past IFT presidents who served our organization.

(5) $2,000 Feeding Tomorrow
General scholarships from the Feeding Tomorrow Scholarship Fund.

(20) $1,000 Feeding Tomorrow
General scholarships from the Feeding Tomorrow Scholarship Fund.

(1) $1,500 Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists-Irving Pflug
This scholarship will be presented to a student studying food science, food engineering or applied microbiology as it relates to food preservation.

(1) $1,500 Dr. John J. & Irene T. Powers
Scholarship endowed by IFT member Dr. John J. Powers and his wife Irene.

(1) $1,000 Julie Vande Velde Leadership
Scholarship in memory of former IFT Development Director.

(1) $2,500 McCormick & Company Endowment
Scholarship endowed by corporate sponsor McCormick & Company.

PAYMENTS

All Feeding Tomorrow Scholarships will be distributed in two payments, August 15 and January 15, through the department heads. Upon receiving each payment we ask the department heads to verify registration of the scholarship recipients.

In addition, all recipients will receive recognition at a Regional Section meeting where the university is located, by a representative of the sponsor whenever possible.
