Starting Your Job: What to Expect on the First Day, Week, and Month

Starting your first job can be scary. You’re not sure of what to expect or what is expected of you. Hear from a food science human resource manager and a food science manager on what to expect during your first day, week and month of being on the job. 

In addition, recent graduates speak to what they have learned since graduating and starting their first job, and share advice to help you have a successful transition to working full time.  

As a registrant of this webcast, you'll receive a helpful tips sheet with specific suggestions on how to prepare for your new job, ways to establish a successful work environment with your boss and coworkers, and how to demonstrate your commitment as a valuable  employee.

Danielle Barbaro is the Director of Global Cola Innovation Product Development for PepsiCo. She has worked at PepsiCo for over 10 years in various roles in Cola and the Gatorade and Energy drink divisions. Prior to this she was at Kraft/Nabisco supporting the Milk-bone and Biscuit brands. She holds an under graduate degree in Nutrition and Food Science from University of Delaware and a Masters in Food Science from Rutgers.

Jackie Seibel is a Research Scientist with Schreiber Foods. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Food Science from the University of Minnesota and her Master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Wisconsin. While in college, Jackie was very active in IFTSA activities – including product development, college bowl, and the student board. She has been working with Schreiber Foods for over a year now and has enjoyed her transition from student to professional.
