Food Policy Impact was a resounding success.

The one day conference covered the food policy landscape—from marketing to food safety to food labeling. The event provided a comfortable environment for the more than 100 industry professionals, consultants, government workers, legal workers, and academia who attended to share their unique views on current and future regulatory issues.

They analyze the food policy landscape, from marketing to food safety to labeling, and select the topics of most relevance and interest to the greatest majority of food policy professionals.
  • Our balanced policy perspectives—Our Advisory Panel selects a diverse range of speakers to provide expert opinions on each topic. Through this approach, attendees get optics into multiple views surrounding each issue. In 2011, speakers came from government, PR agencies, law firms, policy consulting firms, and consumer advocacy groups. We plan to incorporate the same blend in 2012.

Short-term and long-term impacts of food policy 
Understand the short term and long term impacts of key 2012 public policy events. 

Food policy in 2013 and beyond 
Assess the political, business, and economic landscape, and identify trends that may have potential regulatory impact. 

Commentary around the impact of FSMA 
Review comments on key rules and their potential implications, revise business practices based on current requirements, and identify issues that may shape future requirements. 

The future of labeling and mandatory disclosures 
Get familiar with social- and science-based view points, identify what future consumers want on labels, and understand where consumer transparency is heading. 

Canadian Regulatory modernization progress and implications 
Recognize key implications of the regulatory modernization project, translate how changes may impact your business, and identify ways to refine processes to meet Canadian standards. 

Navigating trade policy 
Examine the complexity of international trade agreements, explore pending and future changes and potential implications, and learn how to improve company adherence with trade policy. 

Applying the right standards to your business 
Identify the differences and rationale for varying standards, and learn how to manage compliance with varying standards.

Airport Shuttle
The hotel has a complimentary airport shuttle service to/from Regan National Airport every 15/20 minutes. Shuttle will pick up directly outside baggage claim. Guests should wait by “hotel shuttles” sign. Taxi service is also available, for a fee of $10 (one way). 

Parking
IFT discounted parking is: $12 for the day; $15 overnight. Guests will receive a discounted voucher at the IFT Conference Registration Desk. Parking fees for anyone staying overnight will be charged to their guestroom.

Metrorail
From the Crystal City Stop, the hotel is .6 of a mile from the metro station or a 15-minute walk. The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle that runs to/from the metro every 10-15 minutes.
