Session Description
Labeling and advertising foods and supplements is an important means of communicating the benefits of these products to consumers. Still, countries differ in their requirements for the scientific substantiation of claims. In this session, participants will be updated on permissible and non-permissible claims in the EU, and enforcement actions for non-compliance, with case examples, will be presented. Current market trends in South Korea will be discussed, and participants will learn the scientific and regulatory requirements for attaining claim approval for foods and supplements in South Korea. Through this session, you will get the latest information on regulations and enforcement activities related to health claims in the European Union. You will also learn about the scientific and regulatory requirements for health functional foods in South Korea. Finally, you will be able to compare and contrast the European and South Korean requirements for health claim approvals, including the increased flexibility provided by the system utilized in South Korea.
