Enforcement activities by the Federal Trade Commission have increased in the past few years. More recently, there have been a number of class action filings related to claims for food products. Details from these actions can be used to develop better plans for the development of product claims. This session will equip you with strategies and specific suggestions that will lead to the development of product claims that are truthful, substantiated, and defensible. Through this session, you will build your understanding of the different types of food product claims related to health, learn the issues raised by recent enforcement actions and legal filings in the development of product claims, and will explore the guidelines and research strategies which will lead to the formulation of substantiated and defensible product claims.
