Consumer Trends in Health & Sustainability: Do Attitudes Match Buying Behavior?

Wednesday, March 24, 2010
2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

  • Steve French, Managing Partner, Natural Marketing Institute
  • Todd Hale, M.B.A., Senior Vice President, The Nielsen Company

With corporate activity, media attention, and consumer involvement directed toward sustaining the planet, manufacturers and retailers are striving to understand the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) consumer. Research from the Natural Marketing Institute (NMI) indicates that consumers think that sustainability is here to stay. In 2008, NMI partnered with Nielsen to link NMI’s LOHAS consumer segmentation and research to Nielsen’s Homescan Consumer Panel and Spectra BehaviorScape. Don’t miss this session’s discussion of how these data, related to the LOHAS consumer, can enable food manufacturers with the ability to make smarter “eco-decisions” about product development, positioning, pricing, communication, and distribution.
