Addressing childhood obesity continues to be a public health priority. As a key player in the solution, the food industry is offering healthier choices for children. Providing solutions to childhood obesity involves many factors, and some food industry sectors are making distinct progress. At this session, you’ll hear experts from the marketing, regulatory, food science, and communications arenas discuss case studies that demonstrate how each sector has addressed such challenges. Such studies include the Council of Better Business Bureaus’ (BBB) Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative (CFBAI), which is transforming the landscape of child-directed advertising. In addition, you will gain an appreciation for how food scientists might participate in national policy and guidance discussions involving the food supply and food accessibility and how they impact children.
