World Food Day
If you’re planning an article for World Food Day on October 16, 2013, the Institute of Food Technologists has several resources that you may find helpful when writing your stories.
The theme for World Food Day 2013 is “Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition.” Food science and technology play a key role in alleviating the current world hunger situation as well as providing enough food for the future. This is why IFT will join the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on October 16, 2013 in an effort to heighten public awareness of the plight of the world’s hungry and malnourished and highlights the potential of food science in solving food issues.

IFT on Demand Webcast: Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Importers: FDA and Industry Expert Insights
In collaboration with the FDA, IFT hosted this special webcast on the proposed Rule for Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals. FDA is proposing these standards as part of its implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act. This webcast is the 3rd in an IFT series covering the proposed rules, including what implications may exist, and how these proposed rules may impact the food industry.
