Membership in the division provides a means of maintaining contact with other professionals working with carbohydrates. Through the newsletter members are kept apprised of current workshops and relevant literature. Annual business meeting provides an opportunity to discus common problems with other carbohydrate specialists. It provides better visibility for a corporate sponsor event among target audience. Large number of industry representatives and students in the division provide for opportunity for employment.

Members are encouraged to play an active role in the Division's activities by:

• Serving as an elected member of the executive committee.
• Serving as a volunteer member in other committees.
• Submitting information or articles for publication in the newsletter.
• Organizing Division symposia and workshops.
