2003 Conference of Food Engineering

Plan now to attend the Eighth Conference of Food Engineering (CoFE 2003) to be held at the San Francisco Hilton, San Francisco, CA. The Conference is a topical sponsored by AIChE and is co-sponsored by Food Engineering Division of IFT and Food Processing Engineering Institute of ASAE.  The conference will provide a forum for food industry decision-makers from across the U.S. to meet researches from academia at a single venue to conduct meetings, network and engage in discussion on the latest industry trends.  The conference will have 18 oral sessions, two tutorials and one poster session. This year, many of the sessions have a focus on a specific food processing technique and also some sessions are very much industry oriented with presentations from key industry players. The oral sessions planned for CoFE 2003 are listed below:

1 Advances in Food Process Engineering

2 Advances in Frying Technology

3 Commercialization of New Technologies

4 Edible Coatings and Biopolymers

5 Emerging Sensor Technologies

6 Food Dehydration

7 Glass Transition

8 Impact of Mergers and Acquisitions on Food Engineers in Industry

9 Phytochemicals and Nutraceuticals Processing

10 Product and Process Development: Case Histories

11 Risk Analysis

12 Thermal Processing and Hurdle Technologies

13 Computational Food Process Engineering

14 Recent Advances in High Pressure Processing

15 Nanotechnology Applications in Food and Pharmaceuticals

16 Pulsed Electric Field Processing

17 Gels

18 Impingement Technology

Based on the successful participation and comments from the participants, we are having two tutorial sessions on more demanding areas of food engineering that are relevant to the industry and will provide life long learning opportunity industry professionals.  They are:

1 Tutorial on Engineering Properties of Biological Materials

2 Tutorial on Rheology
