Glanbia Nutritionals reinforces commitment to flax business

September 15, 2010

Glanbia Nutritionals has announced that the Pizzey’s Nutritionals business is now operating under the Glanbia Nutritionals brand, effective immediately. This move is the final stage in the integration of Pizzey’s into parent company Glanbia Nutritionals’ portfolio. Glanbia Nutritionals acquired Pizzey’s Milling in September 2007 to complement its core offering of whey proteins and peptides and expand its nutrition business, demonstrating its commitment to a comprehensive range of high-quality ingredient solutions.

Over the past three years, Glanbia Nutritionals has invested in the depth and quality of its flax business. A new range of flax-based ingredients is now available under the OptiSol 5000 Series, signaling the company’s move into clean-label functional ingredient solutions. Glanbia Nutritionals has installed a particle-sifting system to ensure that its flaxseed ingredients consistently meet the highest quality standards, so that manufacturers can depend on a reliable supply. In addition, Glanbia’s new MicroSure Plus heat treatment process is now available for several flax ingredients, ensuring the lowest microload levels in the industry.

“Since the acquisition of Pizzey’s in 2007, we have continued to grow the flaxseed side of the business and develop innovative products with both nutritional and functional benefits,” said Robert Beausire, Vice President of Business Development. “The growth of our portfolio is a key focus for us, and going forward, the complete integration of the flax business into the Glanbia Nutritionals brand will strengthen our position in the ALA omega-3 market.”

The rebrand will have no impact on customers. Glanbia Nutritionals is committed to providing the same level of service and will continue to invest in new product development.
