BASF has opened its newly expanded Food Technology & Applications Center. Located in Tarrytown, N.Y., the facility is part of BASF’s 160,000-sq-ft research and development center, which also is home to research laboratories for personal care and pharmaceutical applications.
“We welcome our customers and industry colleagues to our new kitchen where Newtrition comes to life,” said Charles Barber, Technical Sales and Applications Manager, Nutrition & Health, for BASF in North America. “This is the birthplace for concepts and ideas that meet consumers’ demands for healthy, appealing, and convenient products. Consider it a culinary crossroads where science, technical and application support, and market research all come together.”
In other news, BASF Aroma Chemicals Business Unit has signed a distribution agreement with Global Essence Inc., based in Freehold, N.J., for the purpose of penetrating and servicing small to mid-market customers for menthol products in North America. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“This agreement is in line with our focus on L-menthol, the new addition to BASF’s citral value chain,” said Andrea Wiese, North American Sales Manager of BASF’s Aroma Chemicals Business Unit. “Our agreement with Global Essence will contribute to our customers’ success in North America.”
