Article Impact Tracking
IFT’s Scientific Journals (i.e., Journal of Food Science, Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, and Journal of Food Science Education) now display a new article-level metric: Altmetric tracks online activity about individual journal articles in social media (Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc.), the mainstream media, online reference managers (e.g., Mendeley, CiteULike), and public policy documents. Articles that have an Altmetric score display the score badge alongside the Altmetric logo, below the title and byline when you open the article. The score indicates the quality and quantity of attention that the article has received. This score is based on three main factors: the number of individuals mentioning a paper, where the mentions occurred, and how often the author of each mention talks about the article.
