Bob’s Red Mill
recently introduced a new grain-free flour blend for baking and cooking. The Paleo Baking Flour, which contains a blend of almond flour, arrowroot starch, coconut flour, and tapioca flour, is produced in a 100% dedicated gluten-free facility and ELISA-tested to verify its gluten-free status.

“With the increase in grain-free baking and interest in a Paleo diet and lifestyle, there was clear demand for this new alternative flour,” says Matthew Cox, vice-president of marketing at Bob’s Red Mill. “Creative cooking and healthy eating are core values for Bob’s Red Mill, and this new flour fits perfectly with those values.”

The flour, which contains 4 grams of protein and 10 grams of net carbs per serving, is suited to Paleo pizza crusts, cakes, crackers, pancakes, flatbreads, and cookies. It can be found online at bobsredmill.com for $13.99 per 16-ounce bag and $25.99 per 32-ounce bag.

General Mills Tiny Toast cerealToasting a new cereal
General Mills
released its first new cereal brand in more than 15 years. Tiny Toast features tiny pieces of crunchy toast covered with even tinier pieces of real strawberries or blueberries in the form of a coarse powder that more closely resembles a flake, according to Mike Evenson, product developer in General Mills’ Innovation, Technology, and Quality division, in a blog post about the launch.

Tiny Toast gives you this really large pop of aroma that’s missing from those other fruit cereals,” he adds. “We watched how consumers responded when they first opened a box, and they were stunned at how good it smelled.”

“Consumers’ tastes continue to evolve, but they remain steadfast in their search for options with wholesome, pantry-friendly ingredients. This inspired our development process, and we went where few brands in the cereal category have gone before, using real fruit,” says Alan Cunningham, senior marketing manager at General Mills.

Made with whole grain as its first ingredient, the cereal is formulated without artificial flavors, colors from artificial sources, and high fructose corn syrup and is available for a suggested retail price of $3.99.

The nuts are available in five flavors: Sweet Heat, a sweet and spicy combo; the zesty-but-not-overpowering Spicy; Honey Roasted; classic Roasted & Salted; and Chocolate Glazed, which offers an extra-crunchy, sweet chocolate flavor. The peanuts will be available for a suggested retail price of $3.99 at select retail stores and on amazon.com, with wider distribution continuing throughout the year.
