Grain-based tots
RollinGreens
originated as a Boulder, Colo., food truck and catering service in 1980, but it wasn’t until Lindsey and Ryan Cunningham took over the family business that the team decided to set their sights on retail. Despite their success at the Boulder farmers’ market, they’ve retired the truck to focus on a new packaged product line, beginning with one of their most popular items, Millet Tots.

These gluten-free, vegan bites are made from organic ancient grains and are sold in the freezer section. They come in three varieties: Original, Spicy-Sweet, and Italian Herb. Available for a suggested retail price of $4.99, the tots can be found in a variety of regional retailers, with distribution in nationwide Lucky’s stores coming this summer. The company plans to launch additional plant-based items next year.

Sustainable fish for kids
“After demoing our best-selling Coho Salmon with Lemon Pepper & Garlic fillets in hundreds of stores, we heard over and over again from parents how much their kids loved salmon! We couldn’t believe there were no salmon products in the frozen section for kids, let alone healthy alternatives to fish sticks,” says Salty Girl Seafood chief innovation officer Gina Auriemma. The company’s wild-caught, breading-free Salmon Bites for Kids are packed with omega-3s and hidden veggies and were designed with busy parents in mind.

Salty Girl Seafood, which focuses on creating partnerships with sustainable seafood suppliers, evaluates how fisheries perform through a six-point sustainability assessment. The company shares details about how its fish are sourced on its packaging, including a code that lets consumers trace where their fish was caught.

Salmon Bites for Kids are available on the West Coast in Whole Foods, Good Eggs, Haggen, and New Leaf for a suggested retail price of $8.99. The company is in the process of expanding its offerings for kids and families.
