Edamame-based ‘rice’
Seapoint Farms
recently introduced Riced, a line of low-carb, 100% grain-free edamame-based rice alternatives. Packed with deliciously authentic flavor and essential plant-based protein, the gluten-free line is available in Riced Edamame and Riced Medley, a blend of edamame, cauliflower, and sweet potato.

Capturing the timeless attributes of rice while showcasing the natural flavor and protein-rich benefits of edamame, Riced products are low in sodium and calories, high in protein, non-GM, vegan, and free of gluten, grains, saturated fat, and cholesterol. Both Riced products can be enjoyed on their own or as an accompaniment to main dishes, veggies, and sauces.

Commenting on the launch, Seapoint Farms’ President Laura Cross said, “After exhaustive development both internally as well as with outside chefs and nutritionists, we believe Riced is a perfect alternative for any rice lover who’s looking to cut back on carbs and benefit from a more plant-based diet without sacrificing the flavor, versatility, affordability, and convenience that’s made rice such a universal favorite for generations.”

Riced products are available at supermarkets and health food stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.39.

Fruity hard frescos
Brewed in the United States and Mexico City—and representing Latin America’s food and drink culture—Jugos Beverage Company’s Hard Frescos are crafted from real fruit, including guava, pineapple, lime, hibiscus, and tamarind. The sparkling drinks can be enjoyed straight from the can or as an ingredient in a craft cocktail.

“Our goal with Hard Frescos was to create a new category accessible to all demographics, that could deliver fresh-pressed fruit flavor without anything artificial. We literally crush hundreds of pounds of hibiscus in our tanks, and you can smell our guava in the parking lot on brew days. Nothing else on the market compares to the taste and quality of our Frescos,” says co-founder Peter Stearns, who along with Mauro Gomez has followed a family tradition of producing handcrafted food products.

Hard Frescos contain no artificial flavors, colorings, sulfites, or preservatives and are gluten- and malt-free. They are available in Tamarindo, Guava Citrico, Hibiscus Jamaica, and Cucumber Pepino Limon flavors and can be found at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a six-pack and $2.49 for a single 19.2-ounce can.
