Global Food Traceability Regulations GFTC PROJECT CONCEPT

Purpose

To assist in the development of a dialogue concerning harmonized food traceability requirements around the world.

Expected Outcomes

A benchmark report summarizing the existing global food traceability standards and regulations, with observations concerning gaps and duplication.

Scope

It will be necessary to limit the time and scope of investigation geographically. The investigation will start with the regulatory environment regarding food traceability in major OECD exporting nations such as: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada,China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.

The assessment would encompass national traceability regulations and requirements used for recalls, animal and plant health controls, and foodborne contamination.

Timing

The research for this project is complete and we expect to publish the results in early fall 2014
