Dan XiaoRecipient of the General Mills Scholarship and Internship 2010

Scholarship RecipientDan Xiao is a Ph.D. student at the University of Tennessee who was born in Xinjiang, China. Xiao was awarded the IFT Quality Assurance William A. Golomski Memorial Scholarship in 2008-2009 and she was also recognized as the Renmin Scholar from 1998-2002 by the Tianjin University of Commerce.

Xiao began reading about food science in high school while living in a region surrounded by melons, grapes and pears. “Through extensive personal reading, I realized that food, if utilized appropriately, can bring a happy and healthy life to humans.”
