Pittsburgh Section IFT Meeting - Chatham University
Our December meeting will be student recognition night at Chatham University where we will present the winners of our scholarship program. This will be our third year awarding scholarships to Chatham students in their Master of Arts in Food Studies program. The Masters of Arts in Food Studies is the interdisciplinary domain that includes agricultural and culinary history as well as sociological, cultural, political, economic, and geographic examinations of food production and consumption. The 388 acre Eden Hall Campus, with its organic gardens, apiaries, orchards, kitchen and root cellar provides a working environment for engagement with the practice and pedagogy of sustainable agriculture and culinary arts. Our special guest speaker, Meredith Grelli from Wigle Whiskey, will present. Did you know that Pittsburgh is the birthplace of American Whiskey? Pittsburgh's alcohol entrepreneurship didn't end there. Come hear more from Meredith's knowledge coming from her deep love of history, Pittsburgh, and local drink and food. Before Wigle, she worked in brand management at Heinz, went to business school at Carnegie Mellon, cooking school at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, and studied urban history at University of Chicago. She co-founded Burgh Bees, a local beekeeping organization. Expect a very lively and enegetic presentation. Event begins at 6pm, with cocktails and a buffet dinner following. Please respond no later than Monday, November 25th. To learn more about the growth and expansion of Chatham's Eden Hall campus, visit their website at: https://www.chatham.edu/edenhall/
