New Processing Techniques Target Norovirus Challenge
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), human norovirus causes about 21 million illnesses, 70,000 hospitalizations and 800 deaths each year. An article in the January issue of Food Technology magazine outlines new processing approaches and broad-based collaborative efforts devised to confront norovirus challenges.

Certified Food Scientist (CFS) Inaugural Deadline extended
The deadline for the Certified Food Scientist (CFS) inaugural pricing has been extended to Jan. 18, 2013.

The first CFS testing window is February 1-22, 2013.  Detailed information on eligibility requirements, exam dates and exam content is available in the Candidate Handbook: http://www.ift.org/certification/forcandidates/handbook.aspx.

Those that have more than 15 years of experience may apply for the CFS through a one-time alternative assessment process: www.ift.org/cfsota.
