A guided tour of the Bell’s Brewery downtown Kalamazoo facility.

Bell's Brewery, Inc. formerly Kalamazoo Brewing Company, founded by Larry Bell as a home-brewing supply shop in 1983, sold its first beer in 1985.

In 2003, Bell's proudly opened a new production brewery in nearby Comstock, Michigan. The new brewery has now seen three major additions and encompasses 60,000 square feet of building on a 24 acre site. Total brewing capacity now stands at 140,000 bbls.

       The Great Lakes Section - IFT offers members unique opportunities to be actively involved in the food technology community in the MidWest area of the United States. Members of the industry and academia interact and form connections in the network through the various activities organized. Members of the industry include companies such as Kellogg Co.

      The GLS section is closely affliated with the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department of Michigan State University, East Lansing. Most students who are members of the section are also members of the MSU Food Science Club and participate in the activities organized by the Student Association of IFT. Through these affliations, student members have the opportunity to participate in national competitions such as the IFT Product Development Competition, to meet members of the industry, to receive academic scholarships and to obtain travel funds to attend the IFT Annual Expo and other national conferences.

      For first time IFT membership application, pls visit IFT.org. Visitors who are already IFT members and are interested in becoming a member of the section are invited to obtain the application form. Application form and cheques addressed to IFT should be sent to the following address:
