Director of R&D / Sr. Scientist

Henson Partners is currently looking for a Director of R&D and Sr. Scientist with functional bar development experience. This is a great opportunity with a quickly growing company in the functional bar industry.

Position Summary: Key positions with fast charging entrepreneurial company experiencing dramatic growth over the past 6 years. Positions present opportunity for direct influence on company’s direction and profitability, are highly visible, and offers very competitive compensation package.

Educational Requirements: B.S. required, MS or PhD preferred.

Experience Required: Five-plus years experience with functional bar development or confectionery bar development.

Job Requirements:
1. Ability to create innovative, unique and creative food bar products
2. Demonstrated success in a managerial capacity (Director)
3. Ability to manage a R&D department successfully (Director)
4. Ability to communicate in spoken and written English
5. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Proficiency in Genesis is a plus
6. Ability to safely work with and around automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment such as mixers, extruders, slitters, spreaders, depositors, and packaging equipment

R&D Position

Oceana Foods Inc. is a food dehydrator for retail, foodservice and industrial trade currently has an entry level Food Science R&D opportunity at our facility in Shelby, MI. This position is to develop new products form bench-top through commercialization. This person should have a food science/food technology qualification and will be the primary technical resource for product and process development of fruit based products. Primary responsibilities include product development & process development of fruit based products including technical support to sales team and customers, supplier interaction, ingredient specifications, prototype development and scale up. Primary attributes required are a background in food science (work experience helpful, but not required), self motivated with ability to work independently, innovative mind with ingredient and process knowledge, flexibility in a fast paced environment, ability to work odd hours for plant trials, and excellent communication skills in English (bilingual in Spanish is helpful).
