MANAGER, FOOD SAFETY/QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Pictsweet Company in Santa Maria, CA, has an immediate opening for a Manager, Food Safety/Quality Assurance. Pictsweet is one of the largest processors and marketers of frozen vegetables in the United States with Headquarters in Bells, TN. Qualifications include the following: Minimum four year college degree in Food Science or Microbiology. A related field will be considered.
Minimum five (5) years food experience in Food Science/Quality Assurance with practical understanding of food processing, quality
control lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, HAACP, GMP, and Personnel Management
Must be computer proficient with spreadsheets and word processing.
Must possess basic mathematical reasoning ability and a basic understanding of statistics
Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
The MFSQA is the on-site food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory authority at the Santa Maria, CA facility and has the primary
responsibility of driving the food safety systems and programs of the plant. This is accomplished by developing, modifying, and maintaining the plant’s HACCP, SSOP, and regulatory programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for the production of safe and wholesome foods.
On occasion, this position will be required 1) to work in a refrigerated environment/freezer 2) to travel to other locations.

Job Description: Review, verify, file, and maintain records relating to product safety, legality, and quality systems
Become knowledgeable in the requirements of third-party auditors such as: AIB, NSF, Cook & Thurber, BRC, Cert ID, ISO, etc.
Ensure compliance to specifications from OSI corporate and those mandated by customers.
Conduct audits of procedures used in all areas of the plant
Maintain schedule calendars to stay on track with required committee meetings, training, and reviews
Conduct follow-up with Managers to ensure that corrective actions to deviation are being completed in a timely manner.
Data-entry of records related to product safety, legality, and quality systems.
Assist with training activities and maintain records and databases of training sessions.
Keep informational paperwork current including: Kosher certificates, supplier letters of continuing guarantee,
certificates of analysis, non-GM identity preservation, USDA egg certificates, and MSDS sheets. This will require
phone, letter and/or e-mail correspondence with various companies.
Data-entry of test results, lot code traceability, line auditing and deviations using Microsoft Excel and Access
Assist with various data collection projects.
Verify product formula compliance.
Cross-train in other Quality Department disciplines to be able to assist with coverage of call-offs and vacations in other positions.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint skills
Ability to analyze data and project trends and correlations
4 to 8 Years of progressive quality experience in a food manufacturing environment
Extensive experience in the implementation and auditing of GFSI and BRC standards
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as customers
Bachelors degree from an accredited four year institution of higher learning
Able to lift 50lbs
Able to stand for extended period of time, or to work above ground level (on ladders, on silos or similar
structures) or under extreme cold condition in coolers and freezers.

We are currently seeking an experienced Food Technologist - Regulatory to join our Technical Services team in Santa Rosa.
This position works in the Technical Service Department and provides a range of information in support of various food regulations (US, Canada, EU, etc.). One of the primary functions is to prepare nutrition facts and ingredient statements for food products and to assure that US and Export packaging meets regulatory requirements. In addition, this individual investigates various packaging and product claims (organic, non-GMO, health claims, etc.) for US packages and packages for other countries. This individual is also responsible for preparing technical information to assist in exporting Amy's Kitchen products to other countries. Due to the nature of the work, this individual will be required to travel between plant locations in Santa Rosa as well as travel to other plant locations.
The candidate works closely with the Marketing Department, R&D, other members of the Technical Service Department and also outside consultants/resources to obtain information in support of Amy's Kitchen projects. The incumbent should be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure of deadlines and communicate well with other departments.
