The NY and CNJIFT section has over 1500 members. It takes a great deal of time and effort of many people to keep the section going and bring up to date information to all those members.
Currently, the following committees are active in our organization.:
ARRANGEMENTS:
Responsible for making physical preparations for the Section meetings. Works
directly with the Chair-elect and the Programs committee in scheduling space, catering and
locations.
AWARDS:
Coordinates the granting of awards and/or scholarships as determined by the Executive
Committee.
CENTRAL NJ-LIAISON:
Responsible for sharing information on events and/or activities from both sections at
monthly CNJ and NYIFT meetings.
CONSTITUTION & BY-LAWS:
Responsible for reviewing and revising (when necessary) the sections Constitution &
By-Laws.
CORPORATE SPONSORS:
Provides information to companies regarding Corporate Membership in the Section.
DECEMBER HOLIDAY MEETING:
Arranges an entertaining evening for our members and their guests.
EMPLOYMENT:
Provides information on "positions available" and "positions wanted"
to Section members who are seeking employment or change in employment.
FINANCE:
Works with the Executive Committee to evaluate and make its budget, and makes
recommendations to ensure financial stability.
Outings:
Arranges sporting events including meals.
GUEST NIGHT:
Annual May meeting. Works with the arrangements committee to set up an entertaining
evening for our members and their guests.
HOSPITALITY:
Greets new members and guests at our monthly meetings and handles door prize donations
from our Corporate Sponsors. Also prepares menu tags.
LONG RANGE PLANNING:
Reviews and evaluates existing activities, evaluates future Section needs, and makes
recommendation for changes on new activities.
MEETING-IN-MINIATURE:
Held every other year. Makes arrangements for a series of lectures on a given topic
which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Works closely with the arrangements
committee.
MEMBERSHIP:
Develops and carries out a plan to build the membership while maintaining the current
membership roster.
SECTION NOMINATIONS:
Develops a slate of qualified candidates for each Section election. Ballots are
mailed in February to the membership.
PROGRAM:
Assists the Chair-elect in planning and executing the Section meeting programs.
SEMINARS:
Works with the Program Committee/Meeting-in-Miniature researching and arranging seminars
for the section.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES (Rutgers University Graduate Student
Association):
Work closely with the student members of the Section and help with our annual Student
Night meeting which is held in February.
SUPPLIERS DAY:
Works from September through April preparing for an exhibition of over 300 suppliers.
Planning meetings are held once a month.
