Message from the Chair

Bill Grano

What a pleasure it is to wish you all a Happy Holidays and hope you all have a warm and wonderful holiday season!

We had such a wonderful November event at McMenamins Kennedy School with an overwhelming attendance and an informative speaker in Alan Bennett. Having the Public Information Specialist for the FDA keeping us all up to speed is such a benefit. I am sure we will have enthusiastic support for Alan returning to OSIFT whenever we can invite him.

This years December meeting will be our annual event benefiting the Oregon Food Bank. We have for several years gathered cash and food donations to meet the continuing need of the community. OSIFT will be donating $1,000.00 to the OFB and asking our Members and guests to bring in 2 cans of food/staples or cash donations and receive your raffle tickets. The raffle tickets will be picked at the end of the meeting and you may be the winner of an awesome gift supplied by our members or member companies.

This month’s committee spotlight is on the Treasurer/Finance Committee, Chaired by Nathan Guzman and supported by committee members Dirk Schulbach and Tom White. This committee is so important to us and functions to keep the budget flowing and in the black, to keep our investments diversified, profitable and stable. Together with other members they audit the books and keep our tax liability status quo. Thank you for all your hard work gentlemen as we look forward to 2010.

I look forward to seeing everyone December 8th at Hayden’s Lakefront Grill in Tualatin. Oregon Food Bank's Mike Moran will be there to speak as well as witness the overwhelming generosity that is always the case when we host this Holiday giving event. With a great speaker, good food and lots of door prizes be sure to sign up early so you don’t miss out. If your company is able please consider bringing an item to raffle for the door prizes.

See you soon and regards,

Bill Grano
