UI/WSU Team Top in 'Eggstravaganza'

The 2009 IFTSA Pacific West Area Meeting was a success!  There were plenty of opportunities for the students to network with a welcome dinner Friday night, an industry tour at Oregon Freeze Dry, and a farewell banquet alongside the college bowl competition.  During College Bowl, three teams competed, UC Davis, Oregon State University, and University of Idaho/Washington State University.  The U of I and WSU teams joined forces to compete as one this year due to their food science programs also officially converging.

The seats were full of cheering attendees and supporting fans.  In the end, the UI/WSU team won and will be traveling to the IFT Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA to compete at the national level.  A fun icebreaker that was held immediately prior to the college bowl competition, during lunch, was a deviled egg making/eating contest with deviled egg kits donated by Willamette Egg.  UI/WSU won this one too!  There were approximately 50 students and industry representatives making the entire event a success!  Rave reviews came back from all who participated in the area meeting.

The IFTSA Pacific West Area Meeting will be held again next year in the early spring at Oregon State University.
