NAFTA Beverage Applications: Senior Applications Specialist

Job Description:
Employee will use his/her knowledge of food science to propose, prepare, conduct, direct, and analyze experiments for customer specific projects. He/she will also serve as an internal expert to lead applications development assessment of novel ingredient and technology innovations. Employee must communicate technical information effectively to all levels and functional areas both internally and externally.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Develop technical solutions to customer-driven and marketing-driven beverage projects from bench-top to commercial scale levels. This requires being able to perform in laboratory, pilot plant, and plant processing environments across multiple beverage application platforms.
  2. Drive profitability and growth within customer interactions via active collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Product Line Management, and New Business Development.
  3. Develop new applications for existing and new markets leading to innovative product concepts and prototypes that can be used for internal and external customer demonstrations.
  4. Provide product development and ingredient functionality expertise for new product launches, product improvement, and product cost savings projects.
  5. Translate emerging ingredient science into impactful application and sensory technologies.
  6. Be a primary interface between Applications Development, Product Development, Discovery, and Analytical Science functions.
  7. Deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers/contacts.
  8. Write comprehensive technical reports.
  9. Remain current with relevant food and beverage industry trends.
  10. Adhere to all safety and quality requirements and offer suggestions to enhance site safety.

 
Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years experience in R&D/Product Development/Technical Service with a focus on food and beverage applications.
    • B.S. (M.S. or PhD preferred) in Food Science or related field.
    • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Quality Control Manager

    Job Summary

    Responsible for overseeing and ensuring all quality and food safety programs are being adhered to in the Deli Star plant (Fayetteville, IL) to include HACCP, SQF, quality monitoring programs, audits for produced products, and supplier audits.

    Responsible for all USDA regulations concerning meat, poultry, labeling, effectively communicating and implementing corrective and preventative measures to stay in compliance.

    Responsible for document control and adherence to all programs that affect the safety and quality of Deli Star products.

    Essential Duties and Functions:

    • Oversee and implement HACCP, SQF, GMP, and other food safety and quality programs for the plant.
    • Provide leadership developing and directing Food Safety and Quality Control improvement initiatives of Deli Star’s products and processes.
    • Perform gap analysis on all Food Safety and Quality Control and SQF processes and procedures.
    • Perform internal QA/QC audits that are compliant with USDA directives and regulations.
    • Conduct risk analysis, verification, and validation activities as applicable.
    • Develop and implement new programs to meet the growth and changing needs for the plant.
    • Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation, metrics, and quality audits.
    • Hire, mentor, and supervise QC Analysts and Technicians.
    • Liaison with USDA on regulatory issues affecting the plant.
    • Liaison with USDA and customer auditors for the designated plant and ensure corrective actions and preventative measures are implemented.
    • Ensure compliance with product specifications, labeling, and regulatory standards set by Deli Star, USDA and FDA.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

    • B.S. Degree in food technology, food science, meat science or related discipline is required. Master’s Degree in these areas is preferred.
    • Minimum (5) years QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • A thorough knowledge of Food Safety and Quality Control standards and procedures and USDA regulations concerning Meat and Poultry labeling are required.
    • Technical level mathematical skills necessary for chemical and microbiological analysis are required.
    • Supervisory or managerial role over operations and/or personnel is preferred.
    • HACCP & SQF Certification are preferred.
    • Must be able to work in a meat-processing environment (wet, presence of blood and meat juices, loud noises, etc.)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Company personnel as well as customers and regulatory agencies.
    • Ability to conduct effective training programs on food safety, quality, and regulatory related subjects.
    • Knowledge of statistical process control and ability to analyze statistical data.
    • Ability to analyze and decipher charts, graphs, and logs is preferred.
    • Ability to trend, analyze data, and determine a course of action from the trending is preferred.
    • Ability to perform effective organoleptic evaluations is required. This includes visual (acuity and color differentiation), olfactory, gustatory, tactile, and auditory ability.
    • Travel overnight or for a week at a time on occasion is preferred.

    Channel Marketing Manager

    The Channel Marketing Manager will play an integral role in driving sales growth for RIBUS via an established network of domestic brokers/partners. Building relationships, delivering hard-hitting marketing programs and managing sales will serve as the foundation for success. Responsibilities include defining, delivering and executing a marketing strategy and associated sales processes to enable the channel community to sell innovative and functional ingredients into the food, beverage and nutritional supplement markets.     Duties and Responsibilities

    ·Oversee the domestic (U.S.) partner/broker lifecycle: acquisition, on-boarding, training, driving and tracking revenue results and relationship management.

    ·Set and manage revenue targets and work with the brokers to achieve/exceed goals. Includes preparing and leading monthly sales call with each broker/partner.

    ·Prepare and deliver ongoing training presentations for broker/partner network, including annual training meeting in conjunction with IFT.

    ·Become the voice of the channel /broker team and provide feedback to RIBUS management around insights and feedback provided by the channel.

    ·Analyze sales pipeline statistics, trends and information to ensure organizational sales goals are reached.

    ·Oversee territory development and renew business agreements with each broker/partner on an annual basis.

    ·Work closely with broker sales teams to ensure proper sample/lead routing and follow up and help coordinate technical support as needed to close the business.

    ·Develop, create and produce marketing collateral as needed.

    ·Provide strategic marketing and channel plans, annually, to boost the company’s market share in the food, beverage and nutritional supplement industries.

    ·Travel to partner locations and industry events as necessary.

    ·Manage company’s tradeshow/event presence including footprint, properties, PR and marketing collateral, supporting signage.

    ·Increase market intelligence by providing information around industries, competitors and customers to President as requested.

    ·Analyze marketing results and deliver reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis in an effort to determine “what’s working” and “what’s not” as related to key ROI benchmarks.

    Ideal candidates for this position should:

    ·Be highly motivated and have exceptional leadership skills.

    ·Be able to work independently without supervision or as a part of a team.

    ·Possess time management and advanced computer skills including: Microsoft Product Suite, ACT! Database/Sage Software, QuickBooks, SwiftPage and the Drupal CMS are preferred.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Technical Services group is responsible for the development of short

    to intermediate-term products, engineering processes, and packaging solutions for the business.

    We also provide technical support for all of the manufacturing operations associated with the pet

    food business in the United States and Canada.

    We are seeking a Product Development Specialist to join our team to develop new pet food products

    for the United States and Canadian markets and to provide factory support.

    The individual will also be responsible for qualifying new raw materials, suppliers, and provide technical

    support of new products after launch. He /she will also help with identifying and leading performance,

    waste reduction and quality improvement projects. Across all elements of the job, the individual will

    have the opportunity to work on fast-paced, multi-functional teams focused on getting new products on

    shelf and providing technical support to NPPC factories.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Assists with development and implementation of new and existing technologies to improve the performance of existing products and develop new products.

    · Lead all assigned product formulations and supporting documentation.

    · Coordinates qualification of new raw materials and/or suppliers and act as ingredient lead for all assigned ingredients/raw materials which includes understanding raw material and manufacturing process and impact on NPPC finished products

    · Act as technical resource for Marketing to develop a robust pipeline of product development opportunities, which includes developing technical project plans and timelines for all assigned projects

    · Provides technical expertise within 'discipline' to PTC, Legal, Consumer Marketing, PCS, Purchasing, Q.A., CDG, HR, Plants, US Management, and other groups as it relates to business unit objectives.

    · Collaboratively and proactively keeps management and key team project members apprised of issues, risks, timing, and contingencies relevant to technical and business success.

    · Proactively monitors and coordinates product maintenance for assigned product responsibilities requiring standardized scientific procedures.

    · Uses standard guidelines and capability studies to develop products in conjunction with factory systems, Quality Assurance and Marketing to link product performance and specifications.

    · Works closely with the factory and quality to establish new product and process specifications.

    · Understands and effectively uses NPPC systems and tools required for scheduling activity and tests, collecting and analyzing data, and completing and disseminating accurate reports.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field

    Experience:

    BS degree and 2+ years of experience in a product development or scale up/commercialization role, OR

    A MS degree and 1+ years of related experience in such a role, OR

    A PhD degree and 0 years of related experience in such a role

    In support of this project, the successful candidate, would have the ability to speak Mandarin.
