Darryl Sullivan

Background

Darryl Sullivan is the chief science officer at Eurofins Scientific, a global contract research organization. In this role, he is responsible for the scientific integrity of all testing done across Eurofins laboratories. Darryl has more than 40 years of experience in the food industry as a scientist, laboratory director, and business executive. He is responsible for the development and validation of hundreds of analytical test methods used to support the food industry and is the leader of an international initiative to harmonize test methods for infant formula around the world. This expertise has led to Darryl’s work with Codex Alimentarius on the development of globally recognized standards.

Darryl has held leadership roles in several scientific organizations, including AOAC INTERNATIONAL, where he was a board member and president; Council for Responsible Nutrition; Natural Products Association; United States Pharmacopeia; and American Herbal Products Association.

IFT Highlights

Darryl began his involvement with IFT as a member of the Wisconsin Section. Soon after, he began presenting and chairing symposia at almost every IFT annual meeting. More recently, Darryl has helped IFT shape its annual meeting by participating in and chairing the Hot Topics Committee and serving as a member of the Annual Meeting Scientific Program Advisory Panel. He continues to review abstracts for symposia and posters every year. Darryl has been active in numerous IFT Divisions, including Food Chemistry, Nutrition, and Nutraceutical and Functional Foods (NFF). He has chaired the NFF Division on two occasions and has helped make it one of the largest, most vibrant groups in IFT. Darryl would like to continue his contributions to IFT at both the Division and Board levels.

Education

BS in biochemistry, with a minor in ecology, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Graduate studies in biochemistry and limnology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
