Colin Dennis
Background
Colin Dennis has had an extensive career in the science and technology of food, including over 36 years in senior management roles in research, development, education, training and consultancy. These have included roles in government institutes in the UK and Norway and senior leadership roles in CampdenBRI, (an international, membership based, not-for-profit research and technology organisation), including 21 years as Chief Executive Officer. During this period he was appointed the Unilever Visiting Professor in Food Science, Queen’s University, Belfast for 15 years.
Colin has also served on key industry, government and academic advisory committees in Abu Dhabi, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Kuwait, Singapore, South Africa, UK and the USA.
He is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the British Nutrition Foundation and the International Food Information Service (IFIS Publishing Ltd) and a Board member of the UK’s National Skills Academy for Food & Drink.
Colin is a Past President and Honorary Fellow of the UK’s IFST, a Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Agriculture of England, a Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science & Technology and is a Chartered Scientist. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2009 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Agri-food sector.
IFT Highlights
During his 36 years of membership, Colin has served IFT in numerous capacities, including serving on the Board of Directors, on the Board of the Foundation, Feeding Tomorrow and as IFT President in 2015-2016. His volunteer activities have also involved him participating in Divisions, serving as Chair and committee member of IFT’s British Section, serving on the Finance Committee, Advisory Panels, Task Forces, Fellow and Award Juries, mentoring IFT’s Emerging Leaders and currently serving on the IFTNEXT Think Tank.
Colin is an IFT Fellow, a Certified Food Scientist and received the Myron Solberg Award in 2011 and the Carl R Fellers Award in 2019.
