Mike Jimenez, Ph.D., was a food scientist and longtime supporter of IFT and the global food
science & technology community. He spent his career working for the Minute Maid division
of The Coca Cola Company, Reynolds Metal Co., and the US Agency for International
Development. He has received numerous honors and awards including being conferred as an
IFT Fellow and the receiving the Bor S. Luh International Award. As recognition of his lifetime
achievement and commitment to food science and technology, his family has provided seed
money to establish an endowment fund in his name.
When fully endowed, the Mike Jimenez Graduate Scholarship will be a $1,000 USD scholarship presented annually to a graduate student pursuing an advanced degree in food science with a focus in food safety and/or nutrition in the developing world. The scholarship will be administered by Feeding Tomorrow, the Foundation of the Institute of Food Technologists.
