This event is hosted as a collaboration between the Institute of Food Technologists and the National Mango Board.
The Nonthermal Processing Division is hosting an interactive student “Think Tank” competition. This event will be similar to the TV show “Shark Tank.” This event will challenge students to pitch innovative technology solutions to help solve real commercial issues. The technologies selected for the competition are Ultrasound (US), Ultra-High-Pressure Homogenization (UHPH), Ultraviolet Light (UV-C) and Pulsed Electric Fields (PEF.) Students are not required to have any prior knowledge about the technologies. Students will have two weeks to develop and present their ideas.
As typical hackathons are open source for majority benefit, all concepts and solutions from this 2023 Think Tank team competition will be considered open source and may be developed by anyone who sees the end results.
