There is growing interest in using food as medicine to prevent health conditions. Poor gut health has been linked to overall health, and can negatively affect mood, sleep, allergies, and immune issues. Consumers are looking for ways to improve their gut health and overall health by changing their diet, and to reduce the use of pharmaceuticals. This webcast hosted by the Product Development Division will discuss prebiotics, probiotics, the use of these ingredients in combination for a food as medicine approach, and the opportunity to create symbiotic foods for gut health benefits. Challenges and strategies for product development with prebiotics and probiotics will also be covered. Applications and some example product formats will also be discussed.
