Feeding Tomorrow had many successes in the 2018–2019 fiscal year, enabling us to accelerate efforts to bring the best and brightest minds to food science and help them improve the world. Motivate

  • 450+ students and 16 institutions participated in the inaugural Academic Knowledge Base research
  • 75+ resources and experiments were posted to Learn About Food Science web pages
  • 100+ educators received careers in food science materials to pass along to middle and high school students at the National Science Teachers Association conference
  • 1,608 students were reached through the IFT19 Educator Expo program
  • Task force recommended future strategies to further engage educators

Support

  • 57 academic and travel scholarships totaling more than $99,000
  • 350 Intern+ applications
  • 500+ scholarship applications
  • 5 Intern+ corporate partnerships
  • 2 Summer Scholars recipients
  • 422 Fun Run + Fitness participants raised more than $97,000 to fund scholarships

Leverage

  • 200+ attendees at IFT19 panel on Volunteer Globally opportunities
  • Five Volunteer Globally partnerships with Bountifield (formerly Compatible Technology International (CTI)), Partners in Food Solutions, Catholic Relief Services, ACDI/VOCA, and Land O’Lakes
  • Sponsored two comprehensive research reports in collaboration with Engineering for Change and Bountifield International
  • Nearly 15,000 views of more than 20 Volunteer Globally postings
