Traceability Solutions Evaluations

GFTC offers evaluations of interoperable, end-to-end traceability systems. We can review and make recommendations on standards setting, data sharing protocols, and training. GFTC also gives impartial advice on navigating new and emerging solutions like blockchain, IoT, and AI Analytics.

Piloting End-to-End Traceability

In 2010, GFTC completed a groundbreaking project with the USFDA that spurred an innovative methodology for evaluating end-to-end traceability. The GFTC continues to use this methodology in the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability to solve critical gps and challenges in implementing end-to-end traceability. GFTC offers this expertise to companies as a consultant for custom pilot projects. We have also made the information from the FDA pilot projects available to the public for reference.

Technology Transfer

GFTC serves as an incubator for new ideas and technologies that will encourage interoperable traceability systems and solutions. The GFTC hosts hackathons that gather technical industry experts for hands-on opportunities to experiment and solve challenges. Participants develop and share useful tools and test these ideas to assess their capabilities.

Standards and Protocols

GFTC convenes food industry stakeholders to foster pre-competitive standards-setting at the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability. It is essential that data systems be able to communicate with each other in order to achieve end-to-end traceability, and GFTC is committed to fostering an exchange of knowledge to develop best practices, generate scorecards to measure traceability success, and provide management of traceability technology.
