For more than 30 years, the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has conducted studies of the labels of processed, packaged foods from the U.S. food supply through the Food Label and Package Survey (FLAPS). The latest FLAPS, conducted during 2006 and 2007, was the 13th survey of the series. The FDA uses FLAPS data to monitor the food industry’s response to food labeling regulations and to support various policy and regulatory decisions.
