Herreid presents Fennema Lecture
Kipp Herreid, a renowned teacher, author, and case studies expert, will share his insights about different delivery formats for case studies, problem-based learning, and other active teaching methodologies at the Fennema Lectureship and Workshop on July 14, 2013, during the IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo in Chicago on July 13–16. After Herreid speaks, participants will attend a hands-on case study exercise and debrief as part of the Fennema Workshop.

Herreid has held positions at many universities where he has spent 25 years experimenting with innovative teaching approaches, especially ones that use case studies. He serves as director of the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science, and he has written numerous books.

The event is part of IFT’s new Teaching & Learning Program for academic members and other educators who are interested in teaching excellence, research, and extension/outreach. IFT created the lectureship to recognize accomplished professionals who would not typically participate in the Annual Meeting’s Scientific Program, address topics of interest to IFT’s global audience, particularly those topics of primary interest to food science educators, and highlight their experiences and research as it applies to the food industry.
