SupplySide West Returns to Las Vegas
Ingredient buyers and suppliers from throughout the industry will gather in Las Vegas from October 15 through 19 as SupplySide West returns to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. The event will welcome over 17,000 industry professionals, 1,300 exhibiting companies, and 10,000 ingredients and solutions. The exhibition focuses on educating professionals responsible for developing finished foods and nutritional products and connecting them with ingredient suppliers across the food and beverage industry.

Highlighting this year’s events will be a wide variety of two- to three-hour workshops that expose attendees to a breadth of information, including market trends/demographics, clinical research on ingredients, formulation considerations, regulatory changes and impacts, and much more. The workshops are focused on helping attendees successfully develop effective products and go-to-market strategies. Among the topics in the lineup are “Healthy Aging: Antioxidants, Adaptogens & Cognition,” “How to Create Disruption in the Beverage Aisle,” “Sustainable, Safe and Sanctioned Packaging for CPG Brands,” “Blurring the Line Between Food Trend and Fad,” and “The Shift from Sugar to Natural Sweeteners.”

On Wednesday, two full-day summits will delve into up-and-coming topics. “CBD from Seed to Shelf: The Supply Side Story,” will offer proprietary market trend data, insights on seed genetics and extraction technologies, testing considerations, and active discussion of the regulatory landscape. “Finding New Pathways in Sports Nutrition” will explore new approaches to ideation and market innovation and showcase emerging ingredients that will fuel development of new products serving the active consumer.

Two featured sessions will bring together expertise on topics of vital importance. The first, on Thursday morning, is an interactive panel discussion, “DSHEA @ 25: Legal Reform and the Future of the Law.” The session will look at the past 25 years since the passage of the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act (DSHEA), and explore its future and new expectations. On Friday morning, “Accelerating Growth in the Organic Market” will delve into global regulatory issues related to organic imports; the top ways marketers can positively impact the availability and breadth of organic ingredients; and the creative solutions being developed to address the critical challenges facing the organic supply chain.

Attendees looking for an interactive forum and quick-paced programming should head over to SupplySide Central, where some of the hottest topics facing the industry will be explored, including “New Ingredients Driving Marketplace Growth,” “Market Trends in Supplements and Nutraceuticals,” “Market Trends in Functional Food & Beverages,” and “What Consumers Want in a Supplement Brand.” Located in booth #5759, the SupplySide Central Stage sessions are open to all participants.

Other highlights include the Tasting Bar, a free-to-attend feature that enables visitors to see, touch, and sample the latest functional foods and beverages; the SupplySide Bookstore, where attendees will find a variety of practical books that support their work in the areas of food ingredients, natural products, botanical products, nutrition, and functional foods; and the New Products Zone, which showcases ingredients and finished products that are at the forefront of innovation and invention.

In addition, the 2019 American Herbal Products Association’s (AHPA) Botanical Congress will offer a unique opportunity to learn about sustainability, regulatory considerations facing the botanical market, current and emerging financial trends, and many diverse opportunities and challenges shared by the worldwide herbal products industry.

Finally, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow attendees, including a first-time visitor reception, a golf outing, wellness yoga sessions, and an LGBTQ+ allies networking reception.
