New plant-based bars

Tattooed Chef announced the launch of its new Oat Butter Bars, which are available in the refrigerated section. This product is Tattooed Chef’s first entrant in the refrigerated category. Each bar contains adaptogens such as ashwagandha, holy basil, reishi, and vitamin D3, which the company says will improve mood and focus.

“We are thrilled to finally introduce our Oat Butter Bars as our first step out of the freezer aisle,” said founder and Chief Creative Officer Sarah Galletti in a press release. “After seeing and feeling the benefits of [adaptogens] myself, I was inspired to create a line of plant-based bars to help consumers easily incorporate functional foods into their routines in a product that tastes fantastic.”

Tattooed Chef Oat Butter Bars are available in four flavors: Chocolate Chip, Brownie, Peanut, and Graham. Each bar contains 12–14 g of plant-based protein and between 260 and 280 calories, and they are free of soy, gluten, and added sugars. Additionally, these bars are Non-GMO Project Verified.

Tattooed Chef Oat Butter Bars are available at select retailers, including Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Nugget Markets, and Central Market, with more retailers coming later in the year, at a suggested retail price of $3.49.

Functional tea steeped with benefits

Inspired by Albanian tea culture, The RYL Company debuted new functional teas. These ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages claim to offer health benefits combined with delicious flavor.

The RYL Company launched four new flavors: Original Green Tea, Peach Black Tea, Raspberry Black Tea, and Lemon Black Tea. Each beverage contains tea polyphenols, oxidizing agents that can reduce stresses on the body, the company states. The RYL Company’s proprietary process fortifies each can of tea with 200 mg of polyphenols and 18 mg of vitamin C. All four flavors are Non-GMO Project Verified and gluten-free.

“Wellness consumers are looking for more ways to eat and drink,” said founder and CEO Blondin Ukella in a press release. “We’re proud to deliver a trusted and transparent ingredient label via our proprietary ‘RYL Polyphenol Technology,’ and in parallel, add a delicious, functional wellness offering to the multibillion-dollar RTD tea category.”

The RYL Company’s teas can be purchased online through the company website or at select Wegmans and Whole Foods Market stores. The brand plans to launch nationwide in Sprouts Farmers Market later this year. These teas can be purchased in 12-packs for a suggested retail price of $34.99.

Violife recently announced the launch of its new vegan substitute for traditional sour cream.

“It is important for Violife to continue expanding our portfolio to offer delicious dairy-free alternatives for everyone to enjoy,” said Debra Yoo, senior brand manager, in a press release. “We created Just Like Sour Cream to have a creamy, cooling, and tangy flavor so fans won’t miss out on what they know and love.”

Violife’s Just Like Sour Cream uses coconut oil and food-grade starch to create a vegan alternative to sour cream. Each serving contains 60 calories and 5 g of fat, and the product is also free of nuts, soy, gluten, and preservatives. It can be swapped for traditional sour cream in all applications, including stuffed baked potatoes, toppings for tacos, and pound cakes, the company says.

Violife Just Like Sour Cream is available at select Walmart locations at a suggested retail price of $4.99.
