McDonald’s new Dollar Menu will debut at U.S. locations on January 4, and will have three simple price points—$1, $2, and $3—with thousands of possible combinations. Each tier provides guests with breakfast, burger, chicken, and beverage options. The new menu continues McDonald’s quest to update its offerings and compete for consumer dollars in a highly competitive fast food environment. In recent years McDonald’s has released healthier meal options, including more fruits and salads, and expanded smartphone and online ordering and quick delivery via Uber Eats.

Items on the Dollar Menu include customer favorites like the Happy Meal, in addition to new offerings like the Classic Chicken Sandwich, which features a buttermilk crispy chicken filet made with all white meat served on a toasted bun with pickles and Signature Sauce. Industry analysts have predicted that the new Dollar Menu will start a “value menu wars 2.0” with an assortment of low-cost choices.
